Everglades City is a town of about 500 people which every year hosts the Everglades City Seafood Fest. For one weekend a year 50,000 people travel to this edge of Florida to enjoy seafood, crafts, amusements, and a full line up of free music.
We traveled there with 2 other couples and their RVs. For us getting into town early in the week is quite a treat since we get to see the transformation of the town as the week progresses. The carnival crew is usually first to roll in along with their kid attractions such as the ponies and a camel. Crafters are next setting up their tents and displays but you know things are getting close when the big music stage goes into place.
The music and people watching are always highlights of the weekend. The town fills up with cars, RVs, and hundreds of motorcycles.
The musical entertainment didn’t disappoint. We took in a Frankie Valli tribute band, The Kentucky Headhunters, Gator Nate, Tim Elliott, Nadia Turner, and Little Texas.
On a side note we brought out a new furniture addition to our bus – our new inflatable couch. It was so comfortable we’re thinking about replacing all our furniture at home !
Next up ……..we roll north for the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg Florida.
